OpenAI, the organization behind the AI-based language generation model, is planning to monetize ChatGPT after seeing a mammoth response to its AI chatbot. OpenAI said it is “starting to think about how to monetize ChatGPT” in its official Discord channel. “Our goal is to continue improving and maintaining the service, and monetization is one way we’re considering to ensure its long-term viability. We’re interested in chatting with some folks for ~15 min to get some early feedback,” said the organization.

OpenAI to Monetize ChatGPT to Enhance its Performance

The Microsoft-owned company was of the view that monetization would bring remarkable change to the AI chatbot in terms of performance. The co-founder and president of OpenAI, Greg Brockman, said, “Working on a professional version of ChatGPT; will offer higher limits and faster performance.”

Meanwhile, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has acknowledged the limitations of the current version of ChatGPT and has warned against relying on it for important tasks. He said, “It’s a mistake to be relying on it for anything important right now. It’s a preview of progress; we have lots of work to do on robustness and truthfulness.”

Features of ChatGPT Professional

The monetized version of ChatGPT, ChatGPT Professional, will likely be offering the following features that are definitely needed, as people using the AI chatbot complained about facing these problems the most:

  • It would always be available and thus would have no blackout windows
  • It wouldn’t throttle, so faster responses from the chatbot
  • Unlimited number of chat messages or at least 2x the regular daily limit
