The tool called AI Avatars will let the user upload three to ten photos of himself and choose from five art styles.

TikTok has rolled out a new feature that will allow content creators to restrict their videos to adult viewers. The adult-only audience controls feature will help ensure safety for teen users. “We’ve started to bring our audience controls feature to creators of short-form video and will expand the feature globally over the coming weeks,” TikTok wrote in a blog post.

Adult-only Audience Controls Progressed From TikTok Live to Videos

The live-streaming on the TikTok platform is only limited to 18+ users, and the adult-only audience controls feature was initially applied there, but since the civil society and child protection groups started pressuring about the TikTok policies for teen users, the company has expanded its adult-only audience controls feature to the short-form videos as well.

The feature came as TikTok announced that it is working on the ability to start identifying which content is appropriate for younger and older teens versus adults. TikTok said that it’s developing a system to identify and restrict certain types of content from being accessed by teens. The company said that over the course of the last 30 days, it has stopped over one million sexually suggestive TikToks from reaching teen accounts.

TikTok Introduced Content Levels to Protect Teen Users

Last year, TikTok launched Content Levels that would restrict certain types of mature content from being viewed by teen users. The feature was designed to give users more control over their TikTok experience while making the app particularly safer for young users. The company is also planning to launch a content filtering tool that will let users manually block videos with certain words or hashtags from their feeds.
