The announcement of the said application was made by Dr. Ali Usman Qasmi, who is currently a professor and historian at LUMS. Moreover, this application was developed by the students of LUMS, as part of their assignment for a course based on the history of Lahore outlined by Professor Ali. Azan Bin Zahid and Taimoor Ali are the two final year students at the Computer Science department at LUMS, who developed the technical features of the app under the supervision of Professor Suleman Shahid.

In addition to it, a total of 32 students were split into groups of 5, and each group was allocated a particular gate. They were respectively tasked with formulating a walking trail for the gate, which needed comprehensive research regarding the gate, its numerous neighborhoods, historical places, and the residents’ current experiences. The students studied the case from classical texts concerning the history of Lahore as the works of Syed Muhammad Latif, Kanahya Lal, and Chishti to complete their research and gather appropriate data.

Furthermore, the app, which is available to download from Play Store, was rolled out as part of World Heritage Day celebrations on 18th April. The developers of the application further obtained help from the Lahore-based historian Faizan Abbas Naqvi, who helped the students in designing the app. The professor also mentioned that the students are not professional historians, therefore, in case of any technical inaccuracy or misinformation, he stated that the students are open to suggestions to enhance this innovative application.
