Netflix has dropped the much-awaited trailer of the 5th season of the hit TV series ‘The Crown’ The royal drama will feature all the new cast members, and it will start in a new decade – the 1990s – with the Queen approaching the 40th anniversary of her accession. Netflix has teased a tumultuous time for the royals, from the Windsor castle fire to Diana’s controversial, headline-making Panorama interview.

The Crown Season 5 Trailer Revolves Around Prince Charles and Lady Diana

The fifth installment of the Crown will see the tensions mounting between the Prince and Princess of Wales as their marriage begins to collapse. The trailer shows a dramatized version of the infamous Panorama interview with Diana as Charles gets closer to Camila. It also features the controversial 1995 interview where Lady Diana sat down with former BBC journalist Martin Bashir and said, “I won’t go quietly; I’ll battle to the end.”

The voiceover in the trailer said, “The House of Windsor should be binding the nation together, setting an example of idealized family life. It’s a situation that can’t help but affect the stability of the country.” An official synopsis from Netflix reads: “As Queen Elizabeth II (Imelda Staunton) approaches the 40th anniversary of her accession, she reflects on a reign that has encompassed nine prime ministers, the advent of mass television, and the twilight of the British Empire. Yet new challenges are on the horizon. The collapse of the Soviet Union and the transfer of sovereignty in Hong Kong signals a seismic shift in the international order presenting both obstacles and opportunities. Meanwhile, trouble is brewing closer to home.”

Humayun Saeed to Feature as Lady Diana’s Love Interest

According to the reports in the media, Humayoun Saeed will be playing Dr. Hasnat’s part in the infamous play, who was the love interest of the Princess of Wales. The actor has confirmed his participation as a cast member by sharing The Crown’s new season update. Moreover, the actress Elizabeth Debicki, who will be playing Lady Diana, was all praise for her The Crown co-star Humayun Saeed in her latest interview; she said; “I absolutely adored Humayun — he was such a lovely actor, and such a beautiful person. I was very lucky to have him, and I think he does such a beautiful job.”
