The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has proclaimed on Thursday through a press release that, as of April 1st, 56,997 farmers have been registered through its Bardana App. Furthermore, under this segment, more than 394,092 tons of total Bardana have been issued, and 75,216 tons of wheat have been obtained by Government from farmers across Punjab since April 1st this year.
Recently, a progress review conference was hosted, which was chaired by PITB Chairman Azfar Manzoor. He was informed that under this segment, over 389 food centers had been enrolled, and over 631,000 tons of total Bardana had been dispensed in Punjab this year. This initiative was launched by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) last year under the scheme of ‘Digitization of Food Department Punjab,’ the Bardana app further assists farmers in enrolling themselves and procuring Bardana transparently and efficiently.
The computerized records of farmers’ data and wheat stock guarantees a continuous transaction enabling both farmers and the government to profit from a problem-free digitized method. In tandem with the Bardana Wheat Procurement, Flour Ledger Management Information System, and Inventory Management System, the initiative performs a significant role in wheat management. It has led to building a reliable system of monitoring stock positions and wheat delivery mechanisms across Punjab.
Moreover, reflecting on the situation arising out of the Covid-19, Bardana App has aided farmers in listing themselves online from their homes. Whilst also guaranteeing transparency and effective processing of Bardana Issuance & Procurement. In addition to it, Payment Scroll has also been introduced for the first-ever time to calculate payments against the wheat purchased. Its access has also been given to the banks and the establishments involved to calculate and make payments to the wheat dealers.
