Simon Doull has rubbished Indian media reports claiming that the Kiwi commentator went through a horrid time in Pakistan during PSL 8. Indian media outlets ran a fake story quoting Doull’s statement, which reads; “Living in Pakistan is like living in jail. I was not allowed to go out as Babar Azam fans were waiting for me. And I stayed without food for many days. Even I was mentally tortured, but by the grace of God, I somehow escaped.”

Simon Doull Denied the Fake Reports

The representative of a Pakistani cricket blog, Saj Sadiq, reached out to Simon for clarification on the matter and found out that Doull did not make any statement about his stay in Pakistan or any comments regarding Babar Azam’s fans. In fact, he said that he ‘absolutely loved’ his stay in Pakistan.

Saj wrote; “Just spoke with Simon Doull. He denies reports quoting him as saying he was not allowed to go out in Pakistan as Babar Azam fans were waiting for him and that he stayed in Pakistan without food for many days. He says that he absolutely loved his time in Pakistan.”

Criticism on Babar Azam

Doull made headlines in Pakistan when he slammed Zalmi’s skipper Babar Azam over his slow run rate. During the commentary, Doull criticized Babar for putting his personal milestones above the team’s goal. He said that Babar should have prioritized the team and focused on looking for boundaries instead of slowing down the run rate. Doull also criticized Virat Kohli saying that he slowed down when he was about to reach his half-century in the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants.
