United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched a unified AI-powered chatbot for government services called 'U-Ask'

The CEOs of Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic have been called for an AI safety meeting at the White House. The brains behind the tech giants will be meeting Vice President Kamala Harris and other high-ranking officials from the Biden administration to discuss pressing issues related to artificial intelligence (AI). Back in April, US President Joe Biden acknowledged that it remains to be seen whether AI is dangerous.

AI Safety Meeting: The Need of the Hour

As per details, the meeting will discuss ways to ensure consumers benefit from AI while being protected from its harms. President Joe Biden also expects tech companies to make sure that the products are safe before being released to the public. “Expectation that companies like yours must make sure their products are safe before making them available to the public,” reads the invitation sent to the tech companies by the President.

Last month, the US regulations jot down rules on AI that could see the White House put the brakes on new AI technologies such as ChatGPT. “Just as food and cars are not released into the market without proper assurance of safety, so too AI systems should provide assurance to the public, government, and businesses that they are fit for purpose,” said the Commerce Department.

Dangers of AI

The United States of America is one of the biggest tech markets in the world but also highly unregulated. Earlier, the President has urged Congress to pass laws putting stricter limits on the tech sector, but all these efforts have little chance of making headway given political differences among lawmakers. All of these loopholes, have given Silicon Valley the freedom to put out new products rapidly, which has instilled AI fears and people believe that it will wreak havoc on society before the government can catch up.
