The CEO of ChatGPT, Sam Altman, has confirmed that a ChatGPT bug has enabled some users to see the titles of other users’ conversations. “We had a significant issue in ChatGPT due to a bug in an open-source library and we feel awful about this,” said Altman.

ChatGPT Bug Caused Trouble for Premium Users As Well

Due to the bug, many users were unable to track their past conversations with the chatbot as the chat history section was completely wiped off. A spokesperson from OpenAI said; “The titles were visible in the user-history sidebar that typically appears on the left side of the ChatGPT webpage but the substance of other users’ conversations was not visible.”

Users took to Twitter to report the problem. A user wrote; “If you use #ChatGPT be careful! There’s a risk of your chats being shared with other users! Today I was presented another user’s chat history. I couldn’t see contents, but could see their recent chats’ titles.” Moreover, the same problem was also reported by ChatGPT Premium subscribers who were also unable to load the previous conversations.

Users fear that the tool might leak their private information in the future as the recent big exposed the chat history. Although the privacy policy of the company says that the user data, such as prompts and responses, may be used to continue training the model. But, the recent glitch indicated that OpenAI has access to user chats.
