The tool called AI Avatars will let the user upload three to ten photos of himself and choose from five art styles.

TikTok has started testing a new in-app tool that allows users to create generative AI avatars. The tool called AI Avatars will let the user upload three to ten photos of himself and choose from five art styles. It will then generate up to 30 separate avatars that can be downloaded to use as profile pictures or in stories.

AI Avatars Tool Has Limited Styles

Currently, the styles held by AI Avatars Tool are limited to what you can get with deep learning apps like Midjourney or Lensa, but the results are impressive. Also, TikTok will only let the users utilize it once a day to presumably avoid overloading servers. It should be noted that the features the social media company experiments with don’t always end up in the final product.

The uploaded photos will be moderated by the app’s content moderation systems and photos that violate TikTok’s Community Guidelines cannot be used to create avatars. “We’re always thinking about new ways to add value to the community and enrich the TikTok experience, as we continue to build a safe place that entertains, inspires creativity, and drives culture,” a spokesperson for TikTok told an international publication.

Text-to-image AI Generator

Months back, TikTok also launched a text-to-image AI generator that let users type in a prompt and receive an image that can be used as the background in their videos. However, the images produced by the AI generator are quite basic when compared to the output from notable text-to-image models, such as; DALL-E 2, as it creates more photorealistic imagery.
