The government has failed to resume its Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar Scheme which has been put on hold since July 2022

Recently, the SBP has announced to suspend the disbursements under the Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar Scheme, from July 1, 2022, till August 31, 2022.  The suspension faces a huge backlash from people who have already invested their hard-earned money in the scheme and they now await the restoration of the program. The affected aspirants of the Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar Scheme took to social media to register their complaints.

People Urged SBP to Restore Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar Scheme

The MPMG Scheme, introduced by the PTI-led government, is a mark-up subsidy-based Housing Finance Facility that assists people in purchasing their dream home. After opting for the scheme, people have to pay a 10% advance to the owners, bank fee, lawyers fee, and realtors fee in order to begin the process. Due to the abrupt suspension notice issued by the SBP,  people are now worried about the investment they had made under the scheme.

People are urging the government officials and SBP to resume the MPMG Scheme on an urgent basis as they have invested heavily in the project. The affectees also trended #RestoreMPMGLoan in a bid to claim their money back from the state. While some people termed it a state robbery others blamed the incumbent government for adding fuel to the people’s misery. To grab the attention of the concerned authorities, people were also seen posting their issues under SBP’s Facebook posts where they were demanding the central bank to restore the scheme.
