Days after the release of Netflix’s new spy thriller “The Gray Man” the video streaming giant has announced a sequel and spinoff of the popular action movie starring Ryan Gosling. The company said that its plan is to turn it into a major spy franchise.

Gray Man: Another Popular Production of Netflix

The Gray Man debuted as the number one movie on the streamer in 92 countries and got a 91% Rotten Tomatoes audience score. The directors of the spy thriller said; “The audience reaction to The Gray Man has been nothing short of phenomenal. We are so appreciative of the enthusiasm that fans across the world have had for this film. With so many amazing characters in the movie, we had always intended for the Gray Man to be part of an expanded universe.”

According to international media, the expansion of franchise is part of Netflix’s strategy to build brands with well-known characters that can traverse film, television, video games, and movies. For the spinoff, the Deadpool directors will return with Gosling as Six, however, not many details are provided regarding the spinoff. According to Joe Russo; “The sequel will be inspired by the Mark Greaney novel. Translating from one medium to another often requires interpretation, but we have an incredible amount of source material from an amazing offer. We’ll draw on that for the sequel.”

Ryan Gosling Brings the Heat in the Spy Thriller

In the movie, Ryan Gosling(Six) is recruited in prison by Billy Bob Thornton to be a “gray man” and work for the CIA by killing bad guys as part of an elite unit program. According to CNET, “The movie encourages us to enjoy the hell out of a stylish shoot-’em-up where good-looking people go bang-bang, while still nudging us to remember it’s a fantasy.”
