Pinterest adds new shopping features to its app as part of its second annual global advertiser summit, including in-app shopping enhancements, promoted Idea Pins, improvements to its Pinterest Trends tool and more.

Pinterest’s new shopping features

With the in-app checkout feature, users can shop directly on Pinterest complete some purchases without leaving the app. However, the feature is currently in beta for some Shopify sellers in the US. Pinterest has also added a feature called Your Shop, which is a customized shopping page that uses an algorithm to feed users brands and content from creators based on their preferences. As explained by Pinterest; “Your Shop is a place for people on Pinterest to browse, shop and buy – and it’s completely tailored to every single person’s tastes.”

The company said that it will be easier for sellers to upload catalogues to the platform and keep prices up to date. Using a trends tool, sellers in the US, UK and Canada will be able to view real-time search data, see trend recommendations and learn more about their audiences. Pinterest said; “Your Shop is currently in beta for US Pinners, and will be launched to all US audiences later this year, with more countries to follow.” The Your Shop feature is a competition to Instagram, which added its shopping tab last year.

Pinterest’s partnership program

Pinterest’s also expanding its paid partnership process to better facilitate branded content deals, which will provide more avenues for creators to make money in the app. It says; “Already, creators can tag your products in their Idea Pins, and disclose a paid partnership. Starting later this year, you’ll be able to promote those Pins as Idea ads to celebrate the partnership with a wider audience.”
