LinkedIn rolls out a new reaction for its post named; ‘Funny Reaction’ which joins the other six reaction emoji’s on the professional network. According to LinkedIn, the Funny Reaction is gradually being rolled out and isn’t available to everyone just yet. The newly launched reaction will provide a simple way to express yourself whenever a post made you laugh, felt humorous, or offered light-hearted fun in a professional context.

LinkedIn’s funny reaction feature

The new feature has a blue laughing face that sits along with other six reactions, including; Like, Celebrate, Support, Love, Insightful and Curious. LinkedIn’s Chief Product Officer Tomer Cohen said; “One of the top requests we got was for a laughing emoji reaction. We hear you loud & clear and we agree. Humor is indeed a serious business.” He further added that the reaction of “funny” may appear odd initially because it does not seem to match a social network as serious and professional as Linkedin but it is really a relevant request from community users.

The feature was first spotted by app researcher Nima Owji, in May, he wrote; “LinkedIn is working on a new reaction called “Funny”! It further added; “Introducing a new reaction to express humor and fun on LinkedIn.”

LinkedIn rolls out new features to increase engagement

Recently, LinkedIn adds ‘new comment’ and ‘comment reply’ options on Event pages and a new ‘Repost’ option, to enhance engagement and encourage topical discussion while promoting the events. Meanwhile, the repost option will act like a Retweet button that will help the content get a wider reach by spreading posts made by other parties.
