Twitter bot

In the recent news, Elon Musk messaged the owner of a Twitter bot that tracks his private jet, with an offer of $5,000 if he took the account offline, according to a recent report, published on Wednesday. The “Elon Musk’s Jet” account shows the movements of Musk’s private jet, employing bots that monitor publicly obtainable air-traffic data.

Elon Musk Asks a Teenager to Take Down the Twitter Bot that Tracks His Private Jet

Moreover, the owner of the Twitter bot, a 19-year-old named Jack Sweeney, received a message in fall last year at 12:13 a.m. from Musk. It said: “Can you take this down? It is a security risk.” Sweeney replied, “Yes I can but it’ll cost you a Model 3 only joking unless?” Musk said, “I don’t love the idea of being shot by a nutcase”. Musk offered Sweeney $5,000 to shut down the Twitter bot that tracks his private jet.

“Any chance to up that to $50k? It would be a great support in college and would possibly allow me to get a car maybe even a Model 3,” Sweeney responded. According to the outlet, Musk stated that he would think about it but has not been back in touch. When Sweeney told Musk where he was aggregating the data from, Musk responded, “Air traffic control is so primitive.”

No Money in Exchange for an Internship Opportunity

Furthermore, the last exchange between Musk and Sweeney happened a week ago when Sweeney stated he would delete the Twitter bot that tracks his private jet for no money if Musk gave him an internship. The teenager told that Musk has not opened the message yet. Sweeney explained to Musk how he was able to locate publicly available data concerning his private jet to create an algorithm that automatically posts the status of Musk’s plane on Twitter bot.
