A high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was held in Islamabad with the aim of bolstering the information technology sector in the upcoming fiscal year 2023-24

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has launched a mental help assistance app and helpline to address the issues related to mental health. The app named “Humraaz” and toll-free helpline 1166 would provide free mental health assistance to the people. “On this World Health Day, I am pleased to announce the launch of the Government’s first dedicated mental health App #Humraaz & helpline,” said PM Shehbaz.

Features of the Mental Help Assistance App

The image tweeted by PM Shehbaz talks about the salient features of the app which include; psychotherapy, WhatsApp support, appointment booking, 24/7 connections with professors, daily active monitoring, and more. Psychologists and psychiatrists are invited to join the initiative to become a part of the government’s initiative. Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman asked parents to curb the rising tendency of screen time as it causes autism and mentally retarded growth among children.

Salman Sufi, who is head of the prime minister’s strategic reforms, said that the aim of the initiative is to provide consultation services and to help improve the health and quality of life of people suffering from deteriorating mental health. “There are several government hospitals that are on board with their psychologists along with some others who are not government [officials],” he added.
