The feud between the famous Apple and Facebook continues. The past couple of months, Mark Zuckerberg has been highly criticized for WhatsApp’s new privacy agreement. Recently, the Facebook CEO attended the Clubhouse room and addressed a similar criticism arrow to Apple. Stressing that with the iOS 14 privacy changes, Apple can monitor users’ complete app and web browsing, Mark has made it explicit that he is not content with the expected privacy policy update. He shared that the modifications are designed to provide more control over iPhone user data.

He repeatedly highlighted that Apple’s privacy updates will prompt users to give apps, including the social platform he co-founded, the authority to track their movement across other apps and the web. He further stated that although the new alternations might not affect greatly Facebook, will still harm small-scale businesses and developers.

“The truth is, I am sure we can handle this situation well and we will be in a good position. Apple’s changes could put us in a stronger position. Because there are so many businesses trading on our platforms. However, these will still be challenging for small businesses. That’s why I am against change.”

Alongside Zuckerberg, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek also put forward his opinion on the matter, by informing about how the company filed the antitrust complaint against Apple with the European Commission in 2019. The complaint partially concentrates on the 30% share Apple takes from all in-app purchases. “My view is that this is very detrimental not only to Spotify but to the vast ecosystem of app developers and content producers. That’s why we made a formal complaint.”

Apple did not promptly respond to a request for comment. In November, Apple stated that the company will reduce its App Store commission to 15% for small businesses earning up to $1 million per year as part of a new program.
