Google has introduced a new AI-powered review feature in Chrome that lets users instantly assess the reputation of an online store—without leaving the page.

The feature appears as a small icon just to the left of the web address. Click it, and you’ll get a neatly summarized AI-generated snapshot of the store’s reputation, including insights into product quality, pricing, customer service, and return policies. This mini pop-up is fueled by data from trusted review aggregators like Trustpilot, ScamAdviser, Reseller Ratings, Reputation.com, and more.

Currently available for desktop Chrome users in the U.S., and only in English, this tool is part of Google’s larger push to enhance shopping safety through artificial intelligence. While mobile support hasn’t been confirmed, the potential is clear—instant trustworthiness checks could soon be a tap away on your phone.

Google’s not new to the AI-retail race. With features like virtual try-ons for clothes and makeup, personalized product suggestions, and AI-powered price tracking, the company is clearly evolving its browser into a full-service shopping companion. This new Chrome update not only positions Google to compete with Amazon’s own AI summaries but also aims to cut through the noise of fake reviews and shady storefronts—a growing concern in today’s e-commerce environment.
