Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque has urged all the provinces, including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan to implement the Cloud Policy, which would boost investment. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting regarding the implementation of Cloud Policy.

Cloud Policy will be helpful in securing data of all provinces

Federal Minister, Syed Amin Ul Haque, said that the approval of Cloud Policy by the federal cabinet was a great success. He said that the purpose of this policy is to make things better by ensuring transparency and enhancing investment. He underlined that in this regard we have to take all provinces along.

The minister stresses the need of implementing cloud policy as it will be beneficial in securing data. He further said that the internet connectivity issue in AJK and GB would be resolved on a priority basis and he also assured that steps are underway for improving connectivity in Balochistan. Authorities from four provinces including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan attended the meeting through video link. Secretary IT Dr. Sohail Rajput, Managing Director Pakistan Software Export Board Osman Nasir, and senior officers of the Ministry of IT were also present in the meeting.

The government gives nod to the cloud first policy

The federal cabinet approved the Cloud First Policy to ensure the privacy of online data, which was deemed crucial for the digitization process. The policy has listed five classes of data, which include open data in the public sector. The other one is public data related to the public sector that is non-confidential and is publicly available it is followed by restricted data related to public sector businesses, operations, and services, which is not sensitive in nature. Another type is confidential data, which is the information not intended to be published, and it can be accessed only by a certain group of people. The last one is secret data that is the information which requires the highest level of protection from serious threats, and its breach can pose a threat to life or public security.
