The Decade-Old Tweet of Parag Agrawal Supports Muslims

However, not even a day has passed and some republicans have dug out and criticized Parag Agrawal on a decade-old tweet supporting Muslims. The tweet was written 11 years ago, and it stated, “If they are not gonna make a distinction between Muslims and extremists, then why should I distinguish between white people and racists.”

As some Twitter users pointed out, the decade-old tweet was quoting a segment on “The Daily Show,” which was referencing the firing of Juan Williams, who commented on being nervous about Muslims on an airplane.

Republicans are Questioning the Views of the New Twitter CEO

Furthermore, people are questioning the view of the new Twitter CEO. The decade-old tweet sends out a message in support of Muslims, saying that not every Muslim is an extremist just as not every white person is a racist. The U.S Congressman for Colorado Ken Buck was prompt to tweet out saying, “This is the new CEO of Twitter. How can users trust him to treat everyone equally?”

Moreover, several more Republicans took to Twitter to voice their concerns. Tennessee Marsha Blackburn also voiced her opinion on Twitter stating, “This is Parag Agrawal, Twitter’s new CEO and the person who’s going to be deciding what kind of speech is allowed on Twitter.” Other than the Republicans, many people stood behind Parag Agrawal, as one Twitter user shared her thoughts on the matter.
